From the end of Charlton Dr, off of the Island Hwy (in between Qualicum Beach and Bowser) this trail starts on an old road and turns to a single track trail. Following the Nile Creek through a lush forest, this route is about 7km up and can be looped back following other trails along the creek. This winding forest trail leads you through large maples, firs and cedars as you hear the splashing sounds of the creek. There are two main trails; upper and lower, with the lower staying right along the creek – and lots of secondary trails too. Cross the old log bridges to explore trails on either side. Bikes are allowed on the trails, though I didn’t see any. I only ran into one couple in prime summer, so it really does feel like you’re in the wild.
