This was a dangerous hike in which many experienced hikers have died! Exciting! We found the trailhead on an unpaved road near a bunch of “Grizzly Bear” signs that urged us not to shoot the beasts.
The trail started off in the woods, then upwards on a steep cliff. We used chains and ropes at a few points, and were often climbing on all fours. Near the top we lost the trail and wandered in the woods, lost for about a half hour. I had my GPS so it wasn’t so worrying.
We found the main trail again and it went along the side of a monstrous cliff and gorge that headed straight down. No railings or fences. One slip and you’re easily dead and gone. We only went to the first look out and then headed back. The pictures didn’t do it justice.
The waterfall had a rainbow around it from the mist.
On the way down I wrecked my hiking boots, which I’ve had for 20 plus years! Not happy about that! But at least we didn’t die.
