Just north of Victoria, in the Cowichan Valley, Spectacle Lake Provincial Park is surrounded by mature forest and wetlands. There is a main beach, a short walk from the parking lot. I suggest following the trail around the lake (2.5km) to find your own private swimming spot off of the rocks. This 2.5km peaceful trail is an easy walk through large trees, over wooden bridges and through the wetlands. Though in mid-August, the wetlands have become drylands (hiking humour.) There are some side trails to explore, with some linking up to regional trails outside of the park boundaries.
Great spot for a walk and a dip.
In the winter, this lake is a popular skating spot.
