Located 15 minutes west of Port Alberni, Sproat Lake is a perfect spot for a swim and a walk. There are a numbr of short trails throughout the park with one leading to a panel of prehistoric petroglyphs. This lake gets busy in the summer with swimming, boating, waterskiing and fishing. It’s also the perfect lunch/swim rest stop when driving from Nanaimo to Ucluelet.
A World War Two-built Martin Mars seaplane, that was converted to a water bomber to fight forest fires is located here, just to right of the public boat ramp. It is now retired but is neat to look at and interesting to read about. Learn more.
