From Nanaimo, head south. Just past the airport turn right on Timberlands Rd. Drive to the end of the road and go left. Drive past the “Do Not Enter” signs and drive along the road until you get to a gravel pit area. Stay right, keep driving along the bumpy road. Where there’s a fork, keep right. It’s a short 1.5 km drive from the gravel pit. You will see a sign for the trail head, just pull over off the gravel road and park at the trail head.
The Halsam Creek Trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail. It’s just over 1km to the suspension bridge. After you cross the bridge you’ll see a map of the surrounding trails which are mostly on old logging roads.
